Founded in 2008, CoalesSense BV is the developer and manufacterer of the CLSR Coalescing Pump, a new technique to enhance the separation of hydrocarbons and water in produced water treatment.
The patented and award-winng CLSR uses a combination of centrifugal and coalescing forces to boost the performance of separation equipment. The CLSR collects micron-sized oil droplets and coalesces them to over 50 times their original size. Downstream separators benefit from a changed droplet size distribution and show a performance improvement of over 80%.
The CLSR can easily be retrofitted to upgrade existing treatment systems struggling to meet specifications, or can be used in new separation systems to replace expensive and bulky conventional techniques.
Besides traditional produced water, the CLSR can be used in new EOR applications such as produced water from polymer flooding and ASP (alkali surfactant polymer) water.
Further applications include the use in well testing, run-off water, bilge water, slopwater treatment, frac fluids and (industrial) waste water clean up.
With the CLSR we are capable to change the droplet size ditribution of Oil in Water to such an extend that currently used separation techniques boost their separation efficiency drastically (80-200%).
Below you find an example of droplet size distributions as determined with laser diffraction. (only 30% of the original oil concentration in droplets smaller than 20 micron remains in this case!)
